Janell Wheeler is an Associate of Press, Dozier & Hamelburg. She is committed to providing quality legal work to meet the individualized needs of our clients. Her practical experience with a variety of legal issues allows her to bring nuanced and insightful perspective to each client's situation and provide comprehensive legal advice. 

Ms. Wheeler practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, business law, commercial and residential real estate, and litigation. Her ability to blend estate planning, business law, and real estate matters is particularly valuable in assisting our clients in crafting estate plans that encompass succession planning for their business and/or the transfer of real property.

Ms. Wheeler has gained a reputation as a skilled trusts and estates attorney, most recently being recognized as a 2024 Maryland Rising Star by Super Lawyers.  She strives to simplify the estate planning process for her clients while crafting a unique plan to meet the individual wishes and goals of every situation. She serves as a partner with her clients as they navigate probate procedures and trust administration while often dealing with the emotional and financial stress of losing a loved one.

Ms. Wheeler assists business owners with the many issues that they face in owning and operating their business, including start-up, licensing, and registration issues. She reviews and prepares employment agreements and business contracts. She has experience drafting and reviewing both residential and commercial leases, preparing deeds, and when needed, pursuing evictions. 

Ms. Wheeler also provides litigation assistance in resolving trust and estate matters such as will contests and probate disputes and engages in settlement resolution and judgment and debt collections to address her business clients’ needs. 

Ms. Wheeler graduated magna cum laude from American University Washington College of Law, where she served as Note and Comment Editor for American University Law Review. Ms. Wheeler also recognizes the importance of community service and regularly volunteers with various civic and religious organizations and local schools.
